Educational technology is quite broad idea. Its focus is to prepare educators
who want to learn how to use technology to help improve learning and
cognition, to support technology-driven school reform, and to teach and
conduct scholarly research in K-12 and higher education.

My 2 cents. If you want to go back China after getting degree, ET is a good choice,
if u want to stay in the u.s., you can hardly compete with Americans in job market.
If you have experience in teaching, especially in elementary or high school, it
may help you in studying ET and finding a job. If you have no experience, I'd say
you chance of getting a good job is small.

Why it is hard to find a job in US?
Is it hard even in the NCLB? How about faculty position?

2. Online learning, distance learning is the application of Ed Tech.

There are some Chinese prof.s in Ed Tech in the States. Compared to other
fields of education, Ed Tech has more faculty openings.
