这两年过的有点王小二过年, 一年不如一年. 真有点不知道往哪里走了.
是搞土木工程设计相关专业的,在这里工作了两年多了, 工资只有53K, 刚有了孩子, 三
十有四了. 老婆文科毕业, 找工作无着. 去年准备念护士, 念了prerequest,老婆突然
改主意不念了,现在准备考MBA,看来也是希望不大.
不知道怎么的, 老婆和我原来也是拿全奖出来了, 现在混的越来越差了.我工作这两年
也没闲着,现在拿了PE 等几个专业证书,也不知道该不该跳槽(全家都指着我,而且PERM
刚交上去).看来专业害死人啊!

想好了，赶紧做打算，时机不等人啊。
你拿了PE都发牢骚，俺们这些还在准备考FE的还不得郁闷死？

打算什么啊? 这就是个套, 你以为有了P.E.就万事大吉了?
就这点工资够干什么的啊?

不是phd. Master 的干活. 国内加这里的工作经验差不多8年了.就这点钱.

看看有没有机会换工作，有些公司在中国开拓市场，也许更有作为些

Sounds that you are underpaid. Which field are u working in civil
engineering?
Where do you work? I know some friends, not licenced yet, have the starting
salary higher than 55k in Mid-west area. Currently, there are lots of
opennings in big companies, like my company. If you want to jump, it is the
right time to move.

I am in building Mechancial engineering field. I accepted the offer at
school when I didn't know much about the salary things. And now I am screwed
up by the low start. I knew a Canadian guy in company held similar position
in my comapny got paid almost 70K and doesn't know anything in the industry
and don't have any licenses.
By the way, do you know some big companies which have openings?

what do you think the average i should expect? I have PE and LEED license.
In the coming year, I will be able to get PMP certificate.

I only expect average lifes. But don't get it now. Actually, I only expect a
brighter future, but I can't see it.

其实我对现在的工资并不是太在意,只是觉得没有什么大的前途,才烦恼从中而生. 不知
道同行们是如何考虑自己这行的前景的?

depends lah. i think 70k is about right in your case. but i will not not be
surprised if somebody gets 90k. i have friends in midwest who have similar
exp got 90k+.

Under paid.
I am not sure for other states. In NV, all PE-civil shall be minimum $70K.
And it is about 80K or higher in southern CA.

Your field is new to me.. My company is doing traditional civil business,
like civil, bridge,transportation...Not sure if that fits for you or not.
And I know there are many opennings in these fields in big civil consulting
firms now. If you are interested, drop me a message in my bbs mailbox.

Why not go to www.enr.com. Check out the civil ranking. The big company
ususally has offices all over the country.
