We are recruiting a postdoctoral fellow to work at UC San Diego on the
fundamental research of grain boundaries, sintering and microstructural
evolution (mostly grain growth), with an emphasis on how an applied electric
field at a high temperature can affect these phenomena. The candidate must
be self-motivated and have a strong interest in doing fundamental
scientific research. The postdoctoral fellow will work with one or more PhD
student(s) on both experimental studies (synthesis, processing and
characterization of specimens) and theories and modeling (thermodynamics and
possibly kinetics). US citizenship is preferred (because the work is
supported by US Depart of Defense) but not required. Candidates who are
currently in US with valid working permits and can start work in August 2014
(without a visa issue that may delay the start date for a prolonged time)
are strongly preferred. Please see UCSD postdoc
salary scale at http://postdoc.ucsd.edu/_files/Postdoc%20Scale%20Effective%20March%201%202014.pdf
If you are interested, please email (1) a detailed CV, (2) up to three
representative publications, and (3) a list of three references, (4) a brief
cover letter outlining your background and interests, and (5) any questions
to Prof. Luo at g*****[email protected] The initial recruitment process was
delayed due to the (unexpected) delay of funding. Right now, we anticipate a
project
start date of August 1, 2014. If you are interested in this position,
please submit an application ASAP. Thanks!
