how to listening to TV news wisely? for me ,it is very difficulti to follow it
and the caption show up later then the sound. I have to give up because I
usually get nothing even I keep listening for half-hour.

I think the problem with your listening is that you don't
have enough vocabulary. If you don't know what the heck
the PLA is, how are you supposed to understand that piece
of news? Therefore, you should first read a lot of
newspapers, memorize how to spell and read world leaders'
names, hot spot locations, and sports heros. Once you
get the vocabulary, your listening will improve, at lease
for the news programs. Actually, news programs are
probably the easiest to understand. Try soap operas

actually, I never read a single sheet of newpaper after i have been in USA. it
is always a big headache for me.
