流行酷语

在美国学美语, 最有趣的大概就是可以听到很多俚语。很多时候光听那些句子, 好象不
容易马上可以会意出来他们在说什么, 听了几次后, 就慢慢可以了解这些俚语的含意了
。这里整理出来的, 都是一些很常听到的「酷语」喔! 不过, 不管什么语言, 都应该考
虑到说话的对象、场合与时间, 有些俚语并不适合在正式的场合用。
1. kick ass 了不起
A: Wow, you fixed my computer in less than 10 minutes. You're good.
A: 哇! 你不到十分钟就把我的计算机修好了呀! 你很棒!
B: Yep. I just kick ass.
B: 是的! 我就是厉害!
"kick ass" 除了字面上的「踢屁股」外, 还有「厉害、打败」的意思。当「踢屁股」时
, 比如某人放你鸽子, 你很气, 就可以说: "I'm going to kick his ass." (我得踢他
的屁股)。当「厉害」用时, 就像上面例句一样用。"kick ass" 还可作「打败某人的意
思」。比如某人一向在某方面比你强, 终于有一天

In addition to this long list, I would like to offer one more from my own
experiences.
1. A lot of Americans like using "awsome" to describe how wonderinful a thing
or an event/activity is or how excited or happy they feel about something.
2. A lot of American young people now like using "like" in oral communication.
It's more like a habbit now than some nice language. Some people just simply
can't talk with saying "like" every a few words. Personally, I don't think
this is a good phenomenon, ho

'awesome"
it's sort of like "you know". i actually think it's a bad habit. should not
be encouraged.

not
as young people grow older, they will use "like" less often. Also, they
mostly use "like" when talking to people who are the same age as them.

In addition to Kathryn's additional list, I would like to offer a few more
from my own experience. (you really offered more than 1)
1. That is dope = that is cool
Example: Yo, man. That is dope.
2. That is sick = that is cool
Example, Yo, man. that is sick.
3. That is whack = that is messed up
Example, Yo, man. That is whack.
4. It ain't nothin' but a chicken wing = It's a piece of cake
Example: Yo, man. It ain't nothin' but a chicken wing.

yeah. never heard of that one before.
maybe it is just written that way, and when they say it, they actually say "
check your zipper" instead "X, Y, Z"? because people say "hugs and kisses"
instead of "X, O, X, O".

你说的是sic,跟sick不一样， that is so sick跟中文的“真变态”差不多。

I don't know who is right here. I just know it is pronounced as "sick", and
I don't think "sic" is even a word, at least not in the dictionary. Maybe
that is how the kids spell it nowadays.
heck, there are many words that i say but don't know how to spell.

这种不等大雅之堂的词字典里当然没有,urbandictionary里也许有
就是用拼写把这俩意思分开的

well, i think if a word gets used enough, then it will eventually be in the
dictionary. i just looked, and there is "homie" and "homey" in the webster
dictionary. i will bet it wasn't there 30 years ago.
