Yes, in the sentence you showed, you probably want to write "cannot" Here is an example that shows the difference: "I can not go to the party, if you don't want me to go." 我可以不去。。。 (Most will say "I will not go to the party, if you don't want me to go.") "I cannot go to the party, even if you want me to go." 我无法去。。。 (I am unable to go to the party.)
