很久以前就很喜欢这首歌的旋律，当时也没觉得歌词有什么意思，因为翻来覆去就是重
复那几句，
上帝是一个女孩，
无论你在何处，
你会相信她么？你会接受她么？
乍一看确实是没什么深刻的内涵，但是听了这么多年了，感觉有一种说不出来的共鸣，
虽然我还是没有太明白为什么要说是上帝是个女孩，但是慢慢地对歌词有一种习惯的亲
切，
而且旋律确实是很带感，听着让人很受感染的魔力，
歌手Groove Coverage的嗓音也很富有磁性，听着不会厌烦，可以循环播放，
这几天开始怀旧，好多老歌听着让人感慨啊。

对于她们我少有想起,更谈不上亲近。最惦记的却是活得最窝囊的老姑。她是我们家族
老辈子中最没有出息的一个女人。所有的亲戚都瞧不起,晚辈们都敢对她当面嘲弄取乐
。造成这个悲剧结果的起因是我爷和我奶。他们在几个儿女都已经成家立业时还稀里糊
涂地生育,使老姑和我们这一代晚辈几乎同时落地。老来得女,奶奶视她为珍宝,从小就
惯着宠着,养得又懒又馋又娇气。爷爷对她评价是“油瓶倒了都不会去扶”。一不如意,
老姑就任性地把腰扭成麻花状,于是亲人们又叫她“三节腰”。直到她出门嫁人,连最简
单的生火做饭都不会。

我的话题有点乱。想到哪就写到哪。这贴就讲讲一个很多找工作的人都忽视的问题。其
实也很简单，就是Local问题。你投出几百上千份的简历，大多石沉大海。原因有很多
，但很重要的一个大家有意无意地忽视的原因就是你不是在本地。我在纽约，你却在加
州，我的选择太多了，我犯得着花钱费事大老远请你来面试吗。你的简历就这样简单的
被枪毙了。
在这一点上，在大城市，或者说在人口多的地方的人占优势。人口多，项目就多，环境
咨询公司也多。我想大纽约地区或者加州就很不错。特别是新州，美国污染第一州，大
小环境咨询公司多如牛毛。很久以前在找工作版上看到有人为找工作专门搬家，现在想
起来还是很make sense的。
如果你住在美国中部或中西部，或者在农村，远离繁华带，你就得想想办法了。我觉得
这里的“远离”应该在200或300mile以上。如果我公司在纽约市，而你在Washington
DC 或者Boston，（5 hours drive 左右)我会比较犹豫，但如果你简历强，我也还会考
虑。你如果在Virginia,我就更犹豫了。再远一点，我就根本不考虑了。
你也许会问，有什么办法呢？不会叫我真的搬家吧。我想是

楼主是做设计的吧？ 不是civil/environmental背景又能清楚这些东西的除了建筑设计
和政府里做事的我想不出还有啥。工厂里和保险公司里做环境的不会那么熟。
其实consulting business的本质就是拿项目，手里有项目去哪都不怕。 我和原公司的
principal闹翻了senior principal给我两个月找地方， 刚好有个老客户把一个３０M
项目的environmental portion给我做， 一样走得没问题。最重要是手上要有可以跟自
己走的项目。
其实做技术只是一种手段，是一种build up industry reputation的手段，是从staff
engineer 到apm pm的手段，后面就是怎么做人了。 老中通常过分把目光注意到前者。
当然另外一种说法也对，与其在这行做个7,８年才拿６位数，还不如做两年改行读个
MBA出来遇上好年景立马就拿６位数以上了，还省了一半时间
和政府里做事的我想不出还有啥。工厂里和保险公司里做环境的不会那么熟。
