去过一个朋友家,一进门就是一条特别大的根雕龙!一飞冲天的气势栩栩如生,一问价
钱可以买三辆宝马760了,真的是价值不菲的宝物
但是总觉得这龙哪里那么别扭,仔细一看,原来是龙头朝向的问题,因为空间的问题,
这条巨龙不能横在屋里,只能竖着放!可不知道朋友出于什么心理,竖着就竖着吧,龙
头还偏偏朝向的屋内
当时就问这里面有没有什么门道,朋友说没有,只是觉得一进门就看见一大龙头有点吓
人,这说法让我不知所以然,龙头朝外是发黄腾达,你龙头朝内这不是等着饿了龙吃人
吗?龙这么神圣的东西怎么能这么随意的摆放
朋友一听直拍大腿!我怎么就没想这么多呢?我走后不久,朋友打来电话说龙卖了!因
为屋里是在不能按最好的位置放,与其这样让龙憋着不如让他飞了算了
这样也好,我当时就建议朋友去买一个玉佩,最好的墨玉的龙牌,这种玉石本来也是十
分廉价,但佩戴起来效果惊人,老话说的好:一条青龙在,愁景烦事千里外!
龙对于个人还有家居这一块,跟老虎一样,不能随意的摆放,不懂就不要买,不然因为
一些细节问题会适得其反。

outsourcing是大势所趋,原因其实比较简单
(1)互联网的发展使得知识,信息的传播大大降低了交流的成本和困难。
以前,信息的流通非常慢,成本非常高,在国内想要看论文都得去看胶片,去专门的机
构查新。现在你在世界的任何角落,都可以利用互联网带来的便利取得任何信息。其次
,人的交流也变得更为方便,随时可以以低成本打视频电话,开视频会议。这样,就给
outsourcing 带来了物质基础
(2)中国具有大量的具有基本科学素质的人才和廉价的工程师队伍
中国的大学毕业生在大学毕业的那一刻比较的话,美国的工程师和中国的工程师基
本知识和基本素质相差并不大,那些比较底层的工作(类似layout,coding,简单电路设
计)其实经过较短的培训大家都能干的,另一方面这些工作又是大量存在的。在美国雇
佣一个这样的工程师最低的工资也可能需要35万人民币,而对于中国的工程师来讲,10
万人民币起薪就可以雇到名校毕业的硕士工程师,这种成本的优势,商业的诱惑,必然
会把这些工作转移到像中国这样的国家来做(因为工作成果的转移具有可能性和低成本
性)。比较个例子来讲,在硅谷的工程师需要一个电

每小时20元其实不贵
洛杉矶这里的京剧老师每小时要50元,不过是一对一教授的,只教唱

I did some rtf processing work long time ago but that was with perl. Don't
know any c# library available but I guess you can do it yourself. it could
be just merge the document area of those rtf files. You may need be careful
with the format though.
I would take a look at the rtf spec first.

是啊,会员还打五折,一个半小时的课学费只有15块。加入会员也很便宜,年费只要$
40.
昆曲社也有一对一教唱或者一对一教加上身段的整出戏的课程,对会员的学费是每小时
$20。最难得的是曲社的老师都是传字辈艺术家的学生,真正的薪火相传。

在中国研发经验不足还是很严重的。做的PCB就以为了不起了,这也太低估研发的技术
含量了巴。
中国学生的数学底子是很不错。但是专业知识就不敢苟同。很多中国学生来美国拿各
master的还比不上别人本科生。动手能力和自学能力都有距离。急功近利的思想也相当
严重。

我之所以写这篇文章的动因是在张江集电港的IC企业实习经历,这边的企业团队模式基
本上是几个在硅谷工作多年的工程师+一批刚刚毕业的研究生,博士生组建的团队.他们
的刻苦精神与创业激情真的很令我触动.我们这帮学生真的是想学到一些东西,在海龟团
队的指引下,感觉自己成长的速度比学校里面强些.但是我们的科研团队有着几个问题
(1)过于年轻,积累的经验没办法跟国外的科研团队比
(2)年轻人过于浮躁,总想一口吃个胖子
(3)都想独树一帜,团队精神不够
但是我们有的优势就是
(1)真的很吃苦耐劳,我们的师兄每周工作6天,每天10点钟下班,他们真的很刻苦的
工作
(2)我们的工资比美国的工程师地的很多,一些简单的工作我们毕业生还是可以胜任的
真的希望国内再多一些像我们老板那样的人,专业超强(stanford毕业,TI十几年工作
经验),他真的教了我们很多东西,很多我们一辈子都可能琢磨不出来的东西。我们之
所以这么辛苦,也是想跟他多学习一点,将来能成为一个真正独当一面的工程师。所以
我想,既然我们国内的水平不行,就从outsourcing 干起,一点一点积累经验,我们年
轻的时候不想要什么高工资,就想多

国内很少有工程师加班到10点的,
加班绝对少有在CA的那帮人。
个人认为,加班就是摧残创造力, 加班干些简单重复的活还行,ideal就免了

我在LAW版看到chuangzh发的帖子 询问EE转行patent lawyer的情况 好像转过去薪水基
本持平 工作时间却是大大的增加 好像chuangzh 说他在的公司每天的工作时间比较少
但是好像如果转了专利律师 那至少损失好几年的工资 还要交学费 而且十年之内收入
和转行之前很难持平
但现在我们在美国的IC的工程师面临很大的outsourcing的压力 因为很难预测未来 心
里很不踏实

mrvl has outsourcing? I thought most of them are in Sanjose.
In fact in this case, both high end (the tutor) and low end is gone. But semi is consolidating and not easy for startup, look at spreadtrum/vmicro. Mediatek is quite successful, but not with this mode.I once read an article for IC company engineer salary is not a main cost factor. SW is more prone to this.

问题是,中国便宜的也就是没有太多经验的工程师,稍微经验多点的牛一些的工程师
就炙手可热,而且中国现在创业气氛很浓,很多牛人都想自己干,这样要留住这些人的
成本并不低。 此外,工资成本只是一部分成本,中国其他方面的成本正在迅速增加。
我有个朋友几年前回国开公司,他说上海office的费用比弯区还高。所以趋势如何
还要看今后几年中国和世界经济的发展。

全有可能赶上美国的大部分的工程师水平。当然美国有些在行业非常杰出的工程师,中
国工程师要想超过他们,还需要一些时间。但是在美国象 Robert Widlar, Bob Pease,
Barrie Gilbert 之类的高人也没多少。如果项目能在中国很好的完成的,为什么不在
中国做呢?能节省一些成本总是好的。 在印度的外包不成功,因为印度人做硬件从来
就不行,而且很多印度人对硬件也没有兴趣。他们更喜欢做软件,不知道为什么。
其它公司要高,那一定是准备把你当牲口用的。如果你想找个比较轻松的活,工资一定
高不了。至于说 回国自己开公司,ic design 自己创业 比软件公司要难很多,投资大
,回报慢,大部分start-up也就是把钱烧完了,就做

strongly agree. Especially for analog IC. The process is kind of the key. It
is true that there are some good foundry in Asia. They are too general to
be cost effective in some special area such as high temp, high voltage.

老美工程师动手能力很强,中国工程师的理论底子很强。
都是各有千秋,如果能多招中国工程师,和老美合作,很厉害,这也是为何现在老美的
高科技很厉害。
只是,趋势就不知道如何?Outsource是必然,在加上h1-b名额问题,是不是会很影响
美国的竞争力。
不过,说实话,现在生产基地都在中国,搞研发在美国,这不是很方便。
我公司就是这样,没办法,和国内交流比较麻烦。
如果研发中心也在国内,就很方便了。
老板也想过,不过公司是做医疗器件的,documentation只能在美国做。

软件公司没有factory, production cost的问题. 基本上赚的钱全砸在养工程师,
和买patent就可以了. 以目前的生态来说,可能收支还算平衡吧. 另外软件核心技术
美国还是领先全球. 再者软件复制极为容易,人才等于一切. outsourcing如果没有
控制好,到时技术外流. 到时一帮老中,阿三工程师在中国印度自己搞个google,
microsoft
跟你打对台,不就等于拿石头砸自己脚.
硬件需要factory, production. 这些部分交给台湾,韩国是会省不少钱的. 再者硬件
牵动的整个制造链很庞大. 只要美日掌握著上游(制造设备,技术,专利),下游(品牌,行
销)
. 也就不用太担心台韩这些outsourcing的地方会反过来打自己.

个人觉得,IC 外包更重要的是信任而不是成本。让外面的公司决定芯片的成败风险很
大。从这点看,在中国建研发部能更好控制质量而不是外包。
另外,高级工程师都从低级工程师提升起来的。美国公司不可能这么短视,不培养自己
的人才基础。在加拿大,IBM,AMD,INTEL等都没有多少新毕业生的位子,而在美国,这
些公司都大把地招新毕业生。可见其保持持续竞争优势的策略。
