我知道这个问题可能是今天最最傻的问题了，管它呢，自己提自己的问题，让别人笑话
去吧。
我已经找好了下一个工作，现在就是在家等着开始新的工作。我家和office不在一个城
市，可是我现在的manager还在给我发工资，希望我在公司内部找，我可以不告诉她就
开始新的full time工作吗？那个lay off的package我实在很想拿到。嘿嘿。

今天有点儿时间，和大家分享一下关于写referee report的经验。
收到邀请写referee report？恭喜，证明你有了一定的知名度。referee的邀请往往从
自己的导师和周围认识的人开始。这也从一定程度上反映了networking的重要性。作为
一个jounior，作referee一定要认真，及时。收到邀请后，赶快答应。作为junior，当
然是饥不择食，有求必应。特别是如果自己以前从来没有给这个杂志当过referee，一
定要答应。这样自己简历上又多了一个杂志。重要的不仅仅是当referee的次数，给多
少个杂志当过referee更能反映一个人的知名度。如果一个人给某个杂志当了10次
referee，但没有收到其他杂志的邀请，很可能他的导师是这个杂志的editor，而他的
研究根本没有引起其他editor的注意。和另一个给10个杂志当了refereee，一个杂志一
次的相比，虽然当referee的总次数一样，第二个人的知名度显

正在找工作！
我做water/wastewater process的，咨询公司是我，也是大家，投简历的主流。但是
不知道大家对设备公司怎么看。
因为我论文是做biofiltration，现在有一家专门做filter，MBR成套设备的公司要面试。
食物链上，因为supplier在consulting的下端，老求着consulting，感觉上是不是不
好，也不知道前景如何？
请讨论赐教

The key is whether you like the job's responsibiity and the working
environment. Always pros and cons. You will find it out during onsite
interview. Personally I like companies with mature products and stable
customers.

Can you explain further why?
I heard good things about degremont and infilco. Siemens, GE/Zenon and Hach
are also supposedly good places. My understanding is that their business are
mostly instrument, but there sould be a lot of in-house research as well.

当然可以2个full time工作，不需要绿卡，有EAD就足够了，OPT期间的学生也完全可以
。

我现在正在写一个Referee Report on a revised manuscript. Should my
recommendation for acceptance/revision/rejection be completely based on how
the authors have responded to MY comments on the initial submission? I ask
this question because the authors have done a good job in dealing with my
concerns (so if this is the only thing I should care, I would recommend
acceptance) but their handling of the editor's and the other referee's
questions do not sound good to me (so I think more revision is needed). In
this case, should I recommend acceptance or revision? Should I talk about
how well I think the authors have dealt with the other comments?
Also if I don't agree with some of comments by the referee and the Editor, i
.e., I side with the authors, should I mention this to the Editor as well?

If I were u, I would suggest acceptance. But you can still provide your
suggestions in the letter to the editor to help the authors address the
editor and/or the other referee's questions. I would be very careful in
disputing the other referee's questions. Be nice and be clear about your
points. It is the editor's call if he/she wants to take your arguments and
if he/she wants to forward your suggestions to the authors. In my opion, you
have done your duty in improving the paper. It is the author's job to
address questions from the other referee and the editor. Hope it helps.
