Would you buy instruments yourself if the money allows or would you use the
common equipment in the department as much as possible? What is your
philosophy? Appreciate any input.
I am thinking whether I should buy a piece of quite expensive equipment (>$
50,000, requiring service each year) that I will use relatively often. The
department has one but it is a little bit inconvenient to me. I have to walk
several minutes to use it every time.
