Just want to share some of my memories of Miss Hong Kong Pageant as I read a lot of posts recently
related to the very famous Miss Lee JX and other well known stars who started their entertainment career by
joining the pageant.
I grow up in HK in the early 80s/90's, during that time Miss HK was a very
popular show. i always heard other
telling some pretty girls by saying
"You should compete for Miss Hong Kong Pageant." Girls at the time really
loved to hear those words.

I grew up in HK as well, but I think HK's people (esp. guy's) of judging
whether a girl is pretty or not is purely
on the appearance... and by that I mean some of the prettier girls I know
have the worst personality you have
ever imagined and I think this is sort of screwed up....

不是只有　hk　的人这样了。。我觉得全球的人　差不多都一样吧。都是先看外表啊～
～～不过相处久了才知道　到底是真美　还是假美。
如果不是这样　外貌总是第一筹码，也不会有那么多人要整容吧？（我觉得是这样滴！

for example, at my bridal gown fitting in HK, I will hear the guy said to
his fiance:
"wow, look at your fat pig arms, oh, i cannot believe why I would get
married with such a pig"
these kind of mean comments to gf really pisses me off sometimes... no
respect to the girl/wife to be...
but according to HK guys, ugly girls = pork chop (HK terminology) but then I
will think what in the world will
HK guys they have the right to judge the girls?? (with that said, my husband
is not from HK because I j

理解楼主的看法。不过，现实情况是，我们得承认现在港姐是一届不如一届，说是猪扒
争丑有点过，但是确实很大一部分来参选的真的不行，平均水平也比以前差了些，包括
最近几届的港姐也比以前低了很多水平。
另外，最近有新闻不是说，连整容和变性的都可以了么，这样的放水恐怕以后更是会一
届不如一届。

I feel bad for that Bride to be, she should not marry to this guy at the
first place. He is a pig himself.
Haha, in HK people do call me Pok Chop (猪排), but i think it is not too bad
, it is kind of yummy : )

Oh, I agree a lot, some pretty girls in HK do really hard to deal with.

i actually quite enjoy japanese pork chop (tonkatsu), haha, it's making me
drool.
Do you understand cantonese? I want to show u 2 clips each on HK woman, and
Hk guys, probably a good
insight of some social problems with this generation of HK ppl...

Me too, My husband is not from HK : )
In my college year in HK, me and other three girls were friends and from a
study group, during the break time, one of the girl (Y) ask a male
classmate to rate four of us based on our look , the worst part is all of us
were here. It was very emprassing moment, the guy really told us in front
of me I am the least pretty one among four of us.
