家里的HDTV没有直接的VGA输入，用这个VGA to HDMI线有用吗？效果如何？

错了，这个是HDMI to VGA，不是VGA to HDMI。

当然不能，数字转模拟容易，模拟转数字不容易。至少50刀以上。

If your TV has DVI input, you may buy a VGA to DVI adapter.
I bought mine at amazon.com. about $10. But you may check the following
link

There is no cuicuit inside and it works much much better than my previous S-
video connection. The display on my LCD TV is almost as clear as my monitor.
The order of connection:
PC or laptop --->VGA cable--> VGA to DVI adapter-->TV

and make sure that DVI interface on TV is not a DVI-D, otherwise the cable won't
work.

我的显卡有DVI 接口。所以刚刚买了一个DVI to HDMI 的converter。
以前最高只有720P。接上HDMI 以后，自动就识别了1080P。
美中不足就是还不能通过HDMI直接送音频。虽然我Nvidia 显卡里面检测到HDMI 以后，
说audio enable，但是电视上还没有声音。
所以我就用了红白音频线先安装上了。
