I have a question about the child credit for married filing Separately or
jointly. I found that the child credit will be phased out $50 per $1000
after it exceeds a threshold. Is this the phase-out speed the same for
married filing separately and jointly? If yes, we can get more child tax
credit if one claims the two kids and the other does not. For example, my
gross adjust income is $95,000 and my wife is $35000. Our total gross
adjusted income is $130,000 and has two kids, then the child tax credit is
zero if we do married filing jointly. The software of the Taxcut told us
that we can equally distribute the total gross income to two $65,000 and
each has $65000 gross adjusted income. We live in TX. Is that true? If yes,
we will have extra $1000 child tax credit because $65000 is only 10,000
higher than the threshold of 55000 and other tax are the same for filing
separately and jointly. Is my understanding correct? Thanks.

我的理解对吗?
