if you want to build a high performance computing, which do you favor,
1) a $9000 server
2) two or three personal desktop computers ($4000 for two and $6000 for
three)?

depends on what you need. if for scientific computation, the first (would
guess it has ECC while PCs don't)? For usual computing that have nothing to
do with money, the second? But the regular PC
may not be a good choice. You may still want some feathers designed for
servers.

I think the desktop computer is really stable now.
why can we not use the desktop computer as a computing server?
What's ECC? The personal desktop computer can have a memory capacity of 64
Gb now.

等你有机会管个几百个core的cluster就知道为啥了。

how much is the cluster with 100 cores?
how much is 50 desktop computers with two cores each?
