You can use either H1b vsia or AP.
AP is convenient. But you have to take risk.
If you use AP, you will not be H1B status any more, you change into Adjust
of Status (AOS) status. You can get
your H1B status back if you do H1B renew or H1B transfer. In this case, it
is OK for most time. But if you 485
get deny in the future, you will be out of status.
