在独立推荐人的信上，应该怎么写说明他是独立推荐人? 下面这么写可以吗？
I don't know Dr. XXX personally; therefore, my evaluation about his work and
abilities is primarily based on his published scientific articles and CV.

yes, you can say so.
From the templates I saw, I don't like just one word there: "therefore". You
can delete this word and make them two separate sentences. "primarily" can
be "solely".

Many people use "I don't know Dr. XXX personally", so try to use different
word to express this.for example, I know Dr. Xiaoniu at conference,my
evaluation is based on his/her presentation and publications,etc.

or "I haven't met Dr.XXX yet, but I know him througn his publications or
blahblah".
And you can mention he/ she is an independent referee in your petition
letter.
