之前顺利取得的推荐信都是关于phd 期间的工作的,
博后刚发一篇,一月后被引用,联系大牛, 好不容易同意,发给他草稿,他倒是签名了,但
是去掉了很多内容,
其中他自己的介绍也很少,只有一句话.
而且里面好像也有禁用词 比如"promising"
其中关于我的工作也被删掉很多, 只剩下
"His research expanded our knowledge of neural mechanism of xx and benefited
the discovery of potential treatment for xx. Dr.XX's finding was published
on xx, a leading journal in xx. His findings are significant, and they were
consistent with data that we were in the process of publishing in the
journal of Nature-thus we made sure to revise our manuscript to cite it "
Based on his work, he has established himself with a promising career as a
scientist studying the basic mechanism underlying xxx.In light of the
importance of xxx research, scientists with a proven track of record of
success in this area, such as Dr.XX, should be given strong consideration
for permanent residence status.
各位帮忙看看吧,感觉有点鸡肋,不用可惜,用了又怕不够strong啊 !

有标准考试的地方,就显出那些无能的或者懒惰的老师了.
所以工会才坚决反对考试.

这些溢美之词好像也正是导致RFE的因素之一吧?

看样子用了也危险啊

至少我从新闻里听的,
老师反对test还能用从自己利益出发来解释,
更恐怖的是有的地方父母居然也非常反对,
甚至总的看来父母的反对比老师的更强烈。
这些考试一般都需要父母同意才可以opt-out
有的学校居然有>50%的父母让自己的小孩opt-out.
教师这个职业,虽然有很多过时的工会保护,
但是美国的教育质量这么差,
父母作为tax-payer才是最应该被谴责的,
大量父母的反智心态才是教育水平不能提升的关键。

个人感觉啊,两方面都要。
我看过一些推荐信的模板,基本上空洞无物,全是吹发的文章的杂志多么牛,引用多么
牛。
个人觉得应该至少加点具体的东西,什么东西,为什么牛,对别人的研究的影响,别人
为什么引用你的文章,对别人的研究有什么引导和启发什么的。
然后最后一两段,总结性地说你整体有多牛,是top,有international recognitions
啥的。
不过自己的case还没有批哈,只是感想。

听一个朋友讲的,他们家是放养。结果在小孩十四岁的时候发现孩子的数学水平很低。
低到什么程度呢? 1 - 2/5 = ? 不会做。去 Kuman 测试,数学水平仅有小学三年级,
令人大跌眼镜。
但我和那个孩子交谈,觉得孩子知书达理,有教养,动手能力强,挺招人喜欢的。
所以,有的孩子就是数学水平差。和老师有无关系,就不得而知了,因为孩子上的学校
还不错。

很奇怪吗。这些家长也曾经是学生,被反智的老师教育长大,当然也反智。所以,还是
老师的问题。
