我家用comcast的cable Internet，原来我一直用router连着一个台式机和一个笔记本，
都是一插上线或是wireless就连上了。可昨天我试着把新买的dell 700m也接上，
wireless可以，但接线就不行。什末原因呢？需要怎莫设置一下吗？多谢大家了！

click on start, click on run, type in the text field "cmd",
press enter, a window pops up.
click on the pop-up window, type "ipconfig /renew"
if you want to know about ipconfig, type "ipconfig /help"
after you finish.
if it doesn't work, type "ipconfig /all" if you don't see
"DHCP Enabled ..... : Yes" under "Ethernet adaptor Local
Area Connection" then you'll have to do more work.

Thanks, Lynny！ I tried what you suggested.
After I typed in "ipconfig/renew", it says that "The operation failed as no
adpater is in the state permissible for this operation". Then I tried to type
in "ipconfig/all", and unfortunately, I didn't see "DHCP Enabled .... :Yes".
What should I do next to solve the problem?

you can send me the output of your ipconfig/all so i can tell
what's going on. but also,
(assuming you're using windows XP)
click start, click settings -> control panel -> network connections,
you should see at least one icon labeled 'local area connection' in
the window. otherwise you pc think it doesn't have a network card.
if you can see an icon and a name, verify that the device name sounds like
a network interface, and the status is 'enabled'.

what's going on. but also,
(assuming you're using windows XP)
