You can put it in start(), however, when your mouse leaves
the applet, the status bar may be forced to show some other
messages (i.e., when you mouse over a HTML link).
To keep it showing "Don't hit me", you need to call
showStatus(), say, every second. The most common way is to
start an other thread to do this job.
public class MyApplet extends Applet implements Runnable{
public void run(){
while(true){
showStatus(...);
Thread.sleep(1000);
}
}
public void start(){
...
new Thread(this).start
