I just know one thing: Java2D. Java1.4 has VolatileImage which supposely
to have the possibility of using Video memory, thus improve speed.

I got the same question. I wrote an interface that contains alot of listener.
JRE1.3 give me an error saying dispather error ... but 1.4 works fine. I don't
know why? btw, it got compiled in 1.3.

If you open the jdk doc, there is a link called "What's New in 1.4"...
