I have two offers, both are from big companies. Control engineer
Offer 1: base 90k but with about 15% bonus each year, sign in bonus 5k,
relocation 15k, 401k company match 6%
Offer 2: base 98k no bonus, sign in bonus 7,5k, relocation only 5k, 401k
company match only 4%
Which one would you choose? choose higher base salary? Thanks for your
inputs. I will use feedback from this board to help make my decision. Thanks

Forget about sign-on and relocation since that's one-time.
90*(1+6%)=95.4
98*(1+4%)=101.9
So definitely choose 98, also base is all how much you are worth.
All others are changeable anytime.
Put in other words, in the long run, only base matters.

I am not sure whehter he means company match 100%
many company match like this: 25% match for the first 6% contribution of the
salary.

You forgot to take bonus into account, which is 15% difference.

the above calculation is correct. 4% 401k matching means dollar/dollar
matching up to 4% or 6% of your salary. I tend to agree to choose 98k one
too. Location wise, one is in midwest, the 98k one is in east coast. But not
in a high living cost city. It is a small city.
