I moved from Michigan to Washington to working for Amazon last March. It
turned out to be an unhappy experience. I just quit the job after gettting a
poor annual review. the HR exit interviewer says since I did not finish my
second year, I have to pay back the relocation cost.
They give me a list of all the relocation costs, most of which are not known
to me. I am also surpriced how expensive the service is and some of the
service I did not use at all.
I sent an email to the exit team arguing that I will not pay for the
relocation cost since the cost are not made known to me and that I did not
see any invoice or recept that shows Amazon has really paid the relocation
company that much.
The HR replies that they will follow the standard procedure of the payback
obligations.
Any anyone give me some suggestions? I am quite nervous now. Thanks.

This is in the contract. Did you sign it?

you sign the agreement and I don't think you can do anything except ask your
boss to layoff you if possible

depends on what the contract says, not what is really spent.
but i'm surprised you need to payback after 1 year of working, normally need
to payback if leaving within 1 year ba...

感觉上A没啥问题，你当时没看合同怎么写的？
但是操作上不知道能不能通融，找个律师问问？

The contract only says that if the employment is less than two years, I
would have to payback the relocation cost on a daily-prorated basis. However
, the details are not stated in the contract.
I talked with an employment attorney firm. They said I may be able to argue
about some expenses in the relocation cost but not all of them. It may just
break even for me.
So I am wondering if anyone has experience with similar cases?
