我的I-20是到2013/5/31号，上周拿到个工作，希望能4月初去上班。准备申请Pre-OPT
(PHD课已经都上完了，就剩写论文，但是老板在国外5月底才回来，所以答辩肯定在暑
假学期。而且论文的东西还有点要搞定。）
现在的问题是：
1. Pre-OPT的话是不是只能申请到现有I-20结束的日期？ 5.31？如果可以的话？我
能不能现在先申请pre-opt到5.31，然后把I-20延期到暑假或者年底，再申请从6.1到年
底的Pre-OPT？中间暑假或者fall答辩？
2. 貌似我这种情况也可以申请post-opt但是我能暑假回来答辩吗？因为我的I-20到5.
31而且上班从4月开始，所以我觉得是不行的，大概。
望高人指点下？现在确实很头疼....公司那边又催的紧....

我都快被这个opt的事情给弄疯了。我i-20 5.31到期，4.9想开始上班，那么要申请4.9
-5.31的pre-opt,6月底答辩，估计刚开始上班就要开始申请另一个Pre-OPT从6.1到暑假
学期玩。然后又同时还要申请POST-opt?????从暑假学期以后？我感觉这时间都接不上
啊？也不知道能不能几个opt挂着一起申请？

弱弱的说：能够先延I-20，再申请pre-completion OPT，再工作，再答辩，再开始post
-completion OPT？

There is not any problem at all for you to apply for post-OPT. I don't think
it is necessary to apply pre-OPT.
Your final defense has nothing to do with your OPT. If you apply for post-
OPT, just ask your universiyt to change your I20 ending date, e.g., 04/01/
2013 or even earlier.
When you get your OPT, you just have an working authrization. You can still
be a student and make final defense.
My university told me that you need to make defense before the first 12-
month expires.

是的，OPT期间任一时间答辩完成学位就可以了

我的学校ISSO不让办啊，急死我了，不知道您有没有您学校的email能Foward给我下，
我去跟他们argue一下啊？
y********[email protected] 我今天你跟他们讲了，但是他们说不行啊，啥的，我想要是有
个别的学校的官方回复的话，也许他们会重新考虑？？？学校这边卡着不让办，公司
又不能等太长时间，这怎么办啊？

不知道您有没有什么您学校的邮件或者留学生办公室给发的邮件能够解释下这种情况的
，那么我能拿去跟他们argue一下的？
