GENERAL SUMMARY
The EMC Global Platform Engineering (GPE) organization is looking for a
highly motivated technical individual to contribute to the development, test
, and integration of SCSI Enclosure Services (SES) on EMC customized
hardware including Server Platforms, Drive Array Enclosures (DAE) and
Manufacturing Drive tester configurations.
Judgment, creativity and sound technical knowledge will be needed to analyze
diagnostic requirements and determine the best possible solutions.
Assignments may include new products as well as upgrades and enhancements,
or fixes to existing products. If you are looking for challenging new work
in developing embedded Linux diagnostics for state of the art technology, we

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Take ownership of the SCSI Enclosure Services (SES) module in a distributed,
high performance; Linux based system exerciser and diagnostic application
Specific focus will be to develop and support embedded diagnostics of SES on
Server Platforms, Drive Array Enclosures (DAE), and Manufacturing Drive
Tester configurations.
Learn the Linux development environment and associated build
tools.
Create Python test scripts to exercise the SES based diagnostics.
Work with members of the global development team to analyze test results.
Represent the organization on project teams; contribute to the development
and achievement of organizational goals and objectives.
Duties may include research, evaluation, development and application of new
process and methods into products.
SKILLS
Entry level, 0-1 years C++ development in a Linux or Unix environment
Strong Linux skills preferred, including system debug skills and tool chain
(gcc, make, gdb)
Strong desire to learn, or familiarity with the following:
SCSI Protocol
SCSI Enclosure Services (SES)
Python Scripting
Asynchronous/Interruptevent handling
Skills not required, but nice to have:
Working with Linux drivers and the kernel
SAS/SATA/ATA Protocol
Multithreaded and/or multicore development
Writing diagnostic software for testing hardware
General knowledge and application of engineering concepts
Strong problem solving skills
Excellent written and spoken communication skills
Strong team player
Ability to work independently
Ability to multi-task
