Posting Title MTS - Virtual Machine Monitor Test Engineer
Job Description This position is for System Software Engineer in Testing,
working on testing the stability & functionality of the Virtual Machine
Monitor and its interaction with other product (ESX and Workstation)
components and features. The candidate will be working closely with the
world-class Virtual Machine Monitor R&D Group working on CPU virtualization
technology that makes the core of VMware Products.
Responsibilities:
An Engineer in this position will work with different people and teams
during different phases of the product development lifecycle. Some of the
responsibilities include –
• Planning/Design/Implementation – Work with the Product Management,
Development counterparts & other team members to understand & review the
feature specs, develop & review feature test plans, test design specs and
implement tests.
• Development – Architect and design test frameworks and implement
various types of automated tests to validate different aspects of the
product feature. Typical test types would include – Functional, Stress,
Limits, Interoperability, and Customer Scenarios etc.
• Product/Feature Stabilization – Setup test configurations, execute
test cases, analyze the test failures, debug test code, report bugs, work
with Development counterparts to get the bug fixes.
• Release – Compile and report test results and provide accurate
assessment of the feature quality to Product QA leads to help make the
overall decision of shipment.
As a member of the team, the engineer will also
• help come up with test strategies to ensure better test coverage and
optimize the test cycles.
• drive improvements to our tools and processes.
• coordinate work with internal and external partners.
• connect with customers via forums and other available medium.
Requirements:
This is a Development position in Test and candidates applying for this
position must have strong technical and software development skills.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in CS/CE (preferred) or related
field with at least 2 years of industry experience or equivalent research
experience.
• Strong programming skills in C, C++/ Java & Perl / Python
• Strong problem solving, analysis and debugging skills.
• Very good knowledge of computer architecture and x86 based
microprocessor architecture
• Very good understanding of operating systems internals
• Command of the Linux development environment
• User level understanding of Linux and Windows operating systems is
highly desired
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to work
in a team environment.
• Knowledge of software engineering processes and software quality
assurance methodologies is a plus.
• Knowledge of x86 virtualization is a plus
• Experience in writing system level software is a plus
