We are building a brand new platform in Scala on the server-side. For our
web-apps, we develop rich front-ends using JavaScript, frameworks like
AngularJS and node.js for building restful APIs. We continuously integrate
into MySQL and MongoDB databases, as well as numerous http based services
and our continuous delivery infrastructure. We exclusively use AWS for our
infrastructure needs.

Responsibilities
Evangelizes Expedia activities technology and products
Works closely with product managers, developers, testers and other cool
folks within Expedia Local Expert to design and build a technologically
superior platform
Writes code… lots of it
Interacts closely with DevOps team to understand physical deployment and
product release procedures
Make the Dev world a better place by contributing to process improvements
across all of Destination Experiences and Expedia, Inc.
Build rich user interfaces that make it easy for suppliers to onboard new
activities.
Qualifications
BS degree, in Computer Science or related field
Experience with one or more of these programming languages:
JavaScript, Scala or Java (JavaScript preferred)
Experience developing UI interfaces, using modern frameworks and libraries
such as EmberJS, AngularJS, Bootstrap and jQuery
Experience working with HTML and CSS
Knowledge, experience or interest in Functional Programming concepts and
languages (such as Scala or Clojure)
Experience working with SQL and NoSQL(MongoDB, Cassandra, Hadoop) data
structures
Knowledge and experience with Linux
Experience developing with continuous delivery and continuous integration
processes and tools (such as Jenkins)
Familiarity with debugging code issues through tools such as Splunk, etc
Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
Familiarity with Domain Driven Design principles
Fearless and passionate about new technologies and languages
Excellent and clear communication skills
Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
Can provide coding samples through repositories, such as Github.
