1500人...
storage hardware vendor NetApp (NTAP) today announced a new round of layoffs
that will reduce its workforce by 12 percent. As of late October NetApp had
around 12,300 employees, so the cuts could hit nearly 1,500 employees.
The cuts will result in $60-70 million in extra expenditures, and they
should be complete by July 2016, according to a regulatory filing the
company released today in association with its quarterly earnings statement.

那也是storage日子不好过，类似EMC早被收购了。
照说网络设备商，如Cisco, Juniper, Arista之流的也不好过。一是cloud，而是FlG之
列自己build switcher, 还open source... 但C刚的财报还可以，股票小涨了一把。

目前的势头是infrastructure做不过上面做app的
不过历史规律是风水轮流转
迟早infrastructure的会领头羊的就看谁能撑到那个时候了
cisco没问题，juniper够呛
huawei相当没问题

当telsa车附带realtime vr的功能的时候
就发现现在所有的backbone infrastructure都不够用了
现在颓势是没有出现killer app来demand更好的infrastrucure
但是现在fb他们搞的ocp其实也是从另一个角度印证现在的infrastrucure solution达
不到某些特定app的要求
fb自己搞ocp hardware，现在有钱的时候可以这么搞，等经济不好这么搞就是玩票烧钱了
cisco huawei只要跟上潮流绝对有翻身之时

switch技术成熟了，通用芯片可以做很多了
Juniper就靠高端router的一些优势了，中低端产品市场差很多了

类似Intel和PC，很长时间没有killer app了，技术成熟了
fb自己搞还有原因是为了省钱，而且特定app面很窄也不能市场化的

以前是摩尔定律推动硬件发展，软件跟上，创造需求。一个东西能成指数增加，总能搞
出叼炸天的应用。
现在摩尔定律终结了，这些个infrastructure是要反着跟着app，跟着business mode需
求来做。
大的picture摆着这里，翻不了身。

其实还是看应用，286,386跑不动win31，就要上486，跑不动98就上Pentium...
网络前几年发展快是因为在线视频和mobile，现在也慢了

以前这些企业级软硬件替换传统服务系统，提高效率；现在同样的cloud服务在替换他
们。。。
