我有过相同的问题，问了律师，律师回复：“Please note that as long as you file
the I-765 any time before your current EAD expires, you will have continued
work authorization for 180 days while the extension is pending. This is
true even if you file the extension the day before your EAD expires, you do
not need the new EAD in hand to continue working.”
