以老刑现在系统，加功能加到随便download个"modern forum"都有的功能都齐了
花的时间绝对比download一个，安装上，然后想办法把现在数据库导过去
要少得多。

首先这功能跟Telnet毫无关系。你也可以说老邢可以把web功能取消然后专心做telnet
并加上该功能。
再者MITBBS是北美最大的telnet BBS，如果把telnet去掉那简直是自宫。

can jump around and perform lots of actions quickly
but so does a command line for a OS. DOS, Linux etc if you know the
commands really well you can do everything quickly and efficiently. but
for the general market it's the graphical UI that matters.
can you imagine what Windows or MAC OS would be like if every development
needs to be coded both for the UI and for the command line? we would still
be stuck in the 1980's. just like MITBBS today is still stuck with 20
years old interface and features.

everything through terminal.

and I think for every 1 telnet people mitbbs loss, it'll gain 2 new web
users after Mr. Xing improves/redo this 20 year old web system.

某篇你不知道具体细节的老帖子，只知道id，或者在哪个版。需要全站搜索。

many 伴舞任務 is a great example of how ridiculous this system is. I've
never seen a forum system that you have to delete old posts to make room
for new posts.
and 99% of the M'ed G'ed posts are never been read again but they are
never being deleted neither. and since limiting the post count is such a
big concern for this system, this is just silly.
and can't search post older than 300 days old or whatever limit on the web
interface? can't search across multiple boards? come on...... this is
2011, not 1989...

web下可以全站搜索？
其实telnet下也可以全站搜索啊，只是MITBBS没有加这个功能罢了，原来ytht就可以
telnet下全站搜索
知道id和版面，telnet下ctrl-g不是更方便么

我知道的，原来我上的bbs也是可以全站搜索的，现在很少bbs支持这个。

telnet也是在不断发展的, mitbbs的telnet比较落后, 又太久没有更新
不过老邢还维持着telnet已经很不错了
