In NYC area, tint normally cost $200. a ticket for tint normally cost less
than $100.
I'd keep the tint, and pay the fine.
Now that you already removed the tint, you need to plea not guilty and
request a hearing.
You can go to any auto repair shop that does state inspection, and ask them
to inspect the tint and provide you a summary like 'no tint present on front
windows' or something like that. You may have to pay them some money.
Or, you can take some pictures and print them out to show the judge.
