I've read this article before but I could not find it now
10 baozi to the first person who can provide link to this blog article
documenting the following experience:
Bank of America Alaska personal visa card
1. instantly approved but CL < $5,000, therefore it was platinum plus
instead of visa signature - 5,000 miles vs 25,000 miles bonus, big
difference
2. called recon and moved CL from another card to make it above $5,000
3. still qualified for the visa signature bonus in the end
4. interestingly, the author claimed that he/she actually got a better deal
out of this

pretty sure it was a full article not a post, and this post suggests to
submit another app and close the platinum plus card which is different from
what I've read

Haha, I know what you meant...In some cases you can take home 25k on top of
the 5k received initially. I can't find the exact post you mentioned either,

interesting story but still not it
I don't think it was extra 5,000 miles but $50 airfare discount for platinum
card
I'm getting old now so memory does not serve me as good as before

Just realize that I got the same perk. Almost didn't noticed that!
This is way back last year. I got both $50 voucher on Alaska and free
companion for $99.
Plus $75 back from ATT offer
What a deal !

我读过一个说自己拿到了2次 bonus after convert platinum to visa signature, 一
个是补的2万，还有一个是新卡的 2万5千。
我自己的例子：交了 50 的年费，受到补的2 万点，可是不再收25 多余的年费。

I got 5,000 first and then 20,000 after upgrade to visa signature
So for the miles, no, I only got 25,000 in total

looks like there were different outcomes in this and similar cases
I've never encountered this situation before even though I've handled more
than two dozens of BofA Alaska apps, until now
it was one of the three apps for LD on the same day
1st app instantly approved visa signature, no dramas there
2nd app, which was this one, instantly approved for platinum plus, funny
thing was that BofA system automatically took the CL from another card
without asking, called recon right away, moved enough CL over to make it
above $5,000, requested an upgrade to signature. let's see how it pans out
3nd app was a rejection, recon call didn't help, they would not budge - too
many accounts and enough total CL with BofA. cancelled one MLB and converted
another to BBR while waiting for letter, called recon again after receiving
the rejection letter, approved for visa signature

I tried one-year VA card before, no luck there.
After I converted that VA card to a travel rewards card, still couldn't get
it converted to BBR after some lengthy talk with the customer service people
Did you just call the number on the back of your card?

few questions for you regarding Alaska card -
did you activate and use the platinum plus card while waiting for the
signature card? was told the two cards would have different card numbers
if yes, did you spend $1,000 on the platinum plus card?

Just realized I'm in the same shoes, applied for my first Alaska visa for
the 30k miles but got platinum plus instead. It's been a month since I got
the card, haven't completed the 1k spending yet.
Should I call recon to convert to visa signature now or wait after 1k
spending is met? Have been a long time BOA customer but this is the first
credit card with them

too late now
if you don't get approved for visa signature instantly you need to call
recon right away

after calling recon on the date of application
original platinum plus offer: 5,000 miles, $50 discount code, $50 AF
original signature card offer: 30,000 miles, $99 companion fare, $100 credit
