我猜她爸爸也不是一下就想通的，肯定通过几十年，所有可能性以及后果都想过了，挣

Well, although I was not raised and grown up in super religious,
conservative, rural Midwest of America like Chely Wright, I kind of feel her
pain.
At the time when I went school at a small town in deep south, I went to a
church just for approaching a girl I had huge crush on. I had to listen to
the priest, who is an old friend of her family, preaching on every Sunday. I
had to sit with her side by side, hearing the priest proclaiming that the
homosexuality is an abomination! -----one of the mo

每个人都不一样的，有时候我们所持的观点跟我们的处境关系不大。
对于牧师，你要想想他们很可能是从小到大受教育的重心就是圣经条文，甚至热忱到以
此作为一生的职业，怎么可能在价值观养成多年后轻易改变，所谓去“专门研究”也不
过是people will believe what they want to believe。
不一定自身为gay，就特理解和接受homosexuality，chely与opera的访问不是也提到过
一些还在自我否认阶段的gay反而是反gay人群中嗓门最大的一个。

so touching..
moved me to tears..
everyone who has been struggled for who she really is must know how
hard that it to admit her sexual orientation.
It's even harder for a person who was raised in a conservative area and
being told being gay a terrible sin.
I got to say Chely is very brave!
Like what she said, she feels like she is now two weeks old after
coming out to the world as a first open gay country music singer.
There is a brand new world out there for her.
Hope she will enjoy her new lif

Actually I've peacefully discussed about the sexual orientation n gay
families with some church groups several times. Some of them ended up kinda
running out of "pretexts" other than quoting Romans or Leviticus. And there
are few gay friendly groups out there.
What I said was to assume a few things:
God is all knowing - we know a whole lot of nothing.
God is all powerful - we fight for power in every situation yet gain very
little most of the time.
God is all forgiving - I'm pretty sure He isn't

You never stop surprising me, my friend :-) talking like a real priest/pastor,
and way better than the ones I saw before.
My point was I could imagine what is like to be told by society over and
over again with some ‘homosexuality damaging good’ bullsxxt, it’s not
that priest’s preach was upsetting, bothering me. I’m not a religious
person or buy those religious sentiments anyway.
In retrospect, what I’ve learnt from my past “depressing moment” is a bit
of taste of irony. Feeling strong for a

I am a Christian struggling with such feelings of guilt for the past 4 years
.Bible does say that homosexuality is sin, but there are some other
interpretations too.
Actually a Christian college of mine talks about gender equality and LGBT
rights all the time. And her church's pastor kind of supports gay rights.
I am still struggling. But all I know from my experience is that being a
lesbian Christian and hearing anti-gay Christian speech is very very
depressing.

Who cares about other's interpretation.

thank you for your kind words. I didn't know I was well liked here at mit, I

I learnt the whole theory from a friend who is a Presbyterian. She also told
me "when you stop hoping, change will never happen". Maybe we can only
change a few people, but those few people can in turn change a few people...

Remember as Christians you are tested constantly. It's that whole being
tested through fire business to produce good products. Even though you are
tested and hardships come into the life your yoke is easy and the burden is
light becuz you are not truly alone. Take hope in that.
