我猜想这里有好多在美国读法学院的，能不能介绍一下怎样找夏天Associate?
我现在是2L，学校是前20，考试排名也还过得去，可是怎么发了一堆的简历，收效很小呢
？
怎么样才能打开个缺口找到面试呢？现在似乎有些晚了，如果要找大所。
打算冬天到DC, NY去试试，可是不知道怎么样才能找到所到时候给我INTERVIEW，或者最
起码找到人聊一聊。
现在觉得学校的LOCATION有的时候要比排名重要。
我都郁闷死了，不能明年夏天就这么浪费了呀！

我找了，可是当时我是在federal government里面做，现在想要到private firm作了，你
有经验就说了，还反问我。而且1L和2L还是不一样的。

2L的summer
internship基本上是靠学校解决的吧.开学的时候就应该有一堆公司来学校interview.如
果你在前20的学校,我相信应该有不少公司到学校去,即使location不在大城市,毕竟排名
在那里.如果在那个过程里面运气不好没有找到offer,凭自己发resume收获是非常小的.不
过真的是很奇怪,怎么能现在才开始发resume呢?

You started way too late. Most 2Ls begin their on-campus interview as early as
August/September, and fly out for on-site interview around 3 weeks after
on-campus interview. At this moment of the year, more than 80% of the big
firms have closed door for their 2004 summer associate class.
You probably can consult with your school's career placement office and try to
find out which firms regularly take students from your law school. In
addition, search on lexis.com for your school's alumni list in

Thanks, guys!
I was too lazy with job hunting and busy with school. After I got my callback
from the interview, I laid on that and did not do the callback interview till
late.
I need keep my eyes really open now..........

If I were you, I would start contacting all the mid/small size firms or
boutiques all over the country now. One can't afford to be picky at this
time, and certainly you don't want to limit yourself to certain locations.
Also, don't wait until after the finals, the more you wait, the riskier it
gets. Prepare to file a couple of hundred, if not more, letters. Take every
application seriously, as if it was the only application that will get you the
only job.

what were you thinking? the callback interviews were pretty much the only way
for one w/o connection to land a summer associateship. And a decent summer
position is the only way to land a permanent job after graduation. I really
don't understand what you did. This summer job chance is much more important
thant your 2L's grades.
I've known students from NYU, Berkeley, Penn with fine grades who couldn't
land a job after graduation because they did not do satisfactory summer job.

Agree with most that otheme has said. However, boutiques might not be a good
idea for him right now. In fact, most boutiques are not really open to folks
right out of law schools. Or even so, they appear to be very picky. If he's
got a scientific degree and specialized in IP, that might help though.
Try to keep your options open for geographic locations and be flexible with
firm size.

Right, boutiques are usually not willing to take fresh students to train them
