no, the market overall has been picking up a lot. mid-levels and seniors are
in great demand because big law firms laid off too many of them in 2009 and
many midlevels and seniors now finally get a chance to go to inhouse after
the recession. so the market now is probably not as good as that in 2007 but
definitely not "not good". the problem here is that law firms almost
recruit juniors exclusively from law school and, maybe with 2007 excepted,
they only hire mid-levels and seniors from currently employed lawyers.
of course you should try but i guess you need to target well. As to your
original question, there aren't a lot of fancy ways to get a legal job
except networking and making contacts with recruiters.
ps, i did not intend to discourage you, i just thought you, as a lawyer,
might appreciate more an impartial analysis than the type of replies in
fashion board or huaren.
