JOB TITLE: Manufacturing Engineer II (Computer Added Manufacturing)
BASIC PURPOSE:
Development, implementation and maintenance of Tool Management (using TDM
Systems), NC Programming (using EdgeCAM), and NC machine simulation (using
VERICUT from CGTECH) systems to support one manufacturing facility of a
leading oilfield services company in Houston Texas.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Using TDM Systems to create and manage machine cutting tools.
2. Using EdgeCAM to generate generic tool path, and then the machine
codes for a specific NC machine.
3. Using VERICUT to verify, simulate and optimize the machine codes.
4. Working closely with technical supports (from software providers, NC
machine providers, and consultants) on development and maintenance of the
above three applications.
5. Troubleshoot any issues related to the three applications.
6. Train NC programmers or other end users to use the above three
applications.
7. Perform other duties as assigned.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP:
Working in the department of Manufacturing Engineering, located in Houston,
Texas. This position reports to a Technology Manager. Has a wide variety of
contacts with Schlumberger Engineering and manufacturing staff in Houston,
Texas, and external software providers and consultants.
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:
Ph.D, or MS or BS degree in Manufacturing Engineering, or Industrial
Technology, or Mechanical Engineering with fresh (for Ph.D), or a minimum of
3 (for MS) or 5 (for BS) years’ experience in NC Programming (EdgeCAM
preferred), and/or tool management systems (TDM systems preferred).
Understanding of 5-axis CNC machines (e.g. Mori-Seiki NT4300, DMU 100 P,
MAZAK 650) and the control systems (e.g. FUNUC 15M, Heidenhain 530i) most
desirable. Must be able to communicate in English on technical and social
issues effectively to the peoples of different levels and backgrounds (e.g.
machine operators, programmers, engineers, consultants, CAM software and
machine tool supports…). TDM Systems, VERICUT, EdgeCAM, PRO/E skills and/or
experience desirable.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Good working conditions with frequent exposure to undesirable elements.
Moderate to heavy mental effort or sustained and very tiring visual
attention to work details, accuracy, and time pressures.
