Little nuggets of wisdom that my soon-to-be-five-year-old
daughter shared with me just now, on the way back from
preschool:
• "You know what, daddy? Fruits are sweet, but they are
good for you. They have sugar in them but not too much;
that's why they are good. Chocolate candies have too much
sugar; that's why we can only eat a little bit."
• "If you are sick, you should eat a lot of vegetables,
because germs don't like vegetables. They like chicken and
steak and hotdogs."
• "If you are sick, you eat cooked vegetables. Cooked
vegetables feel good in the tummy. If you are not sick, then
you eat salad."
• "Water is also good for you, but you don't drink it off
the street. You drink it from a cup."
• "If you drink the rain water in a puddle, you'll get sick.
You'll get astronauts in your tummy. (Astronauts?!) Yes,
astronauts. Miss Joanne said so."
Well, I guess now I have a question for Miss Joanne next time
when I see her.
