大家都说说samba的速度多少算正常啊？以前没怎么在意，最近用旧台机搞个zfs
raidz1的NAS，运行在opensolaris08.11下，主要做samba server。经过一番折腾终于
达到20～25MB/s的速度，还算满意。今天无聊，在运行ubuntu的台机上开了samba
service，一测竟然有58MB/s的速度。想问问samba是不是很受cpu，硬盘速度的影响啊
？还是因为solaris的kernel smb比较弱呢？想试试装stand alone的samba，但是据说
和zfs合不来。

还受NIC的性能影响. 有没有试过intel pro/1000网卡
旧台机有多旧? 如果只支持udma2, 就别指望58MB/s的速度了

p4c800e deluxe mobo, cpu pentium m 730 1.6GHz, 3GB PC3200 CL4.
onboard ethernet(intel82547EI) disabled due to known driver issues in
opensolaris, instead I use IBM netXtreme 2port(BCM5704); onboard promise
fastrack TX2plus disabled because no drivers available in opensolaris,
replaced with a 4port sil3124 card.
harddrives are 4x250GB SATA, two seagate from this old rig, two wd from a
buffalo external hard drive(replaced with two 500GB 7200.10). The r/w speed
of each single drive is about 55MB/se

你这种情况也有可能是samba not very good, 不妨用ftp或NFS拷贝同样的文件测试一
下速度, 看有没有比samba快很多. 我的samba 3.2 server上用hdparm -t测有70MB/s,
但是用
smbclient从其get一个350MB的文件速度只有30MB/s, 不过client机上hdparm -t只有
44MB/s

开了anonymous ftp试了一下，下载很快，但速度也不太稳定，下到我的T400有35MB～
45MB/sec，到台机可以有40～70MB/sec；上传就是都差不多只有～30MB/sec。

network itself seems to be ok, 685.56Mb/sec, however it eats up 52.45% the 1.6GHz CPU!

刚看了一下tomshardware的NASbenchmark。俺的这个和$600的Qnap ts 409 pro［就一
壳子，还不包括硬盘哈］的performance差不多。比别的NAS都快多啦。而且那些都没有
ZFS，可以自我安慰一下了。唯一不足的就是耗电大概要稍逊一筹。
另外今年这个dual core atom plus geforce 9400很值得期待啊。
