I enjoy nice green lawn like most 老外, I don't know why some chinese people
here insist on they like brown lawn. (but if you truely like it, that is ok

Did you try it, cool season grass will slow down their growth when too hot (
above 77), but given right amount of water, they should stay green until

Actually 1 inch per day is not the right amount, but it is just a
guesstimate for most people does not want to invest more time and tool to
water the right amount.
My watering system is actually controlled by my home automation system,
which decide how much water to use everyday based on reading from soil
moisture sensor like this one.

I understand your 人各有志 part, but some people here have no problem paying
bank thousands of dollar in interest every month, but have huge problem
when you ask them to spend just a little to water their yard.
Money to the bank is for someone else to enjoy, money spend on your yard is

meter of grey water left in my tank according to the computer, which should
be enough to last this season.

枯了就枯了，根系已经长好的草不怕短时间的干旱。
前段时间我们这很旱，公司平时维护的很好的草都大片枯黄，这周下了几天雨，很快就
恢复绿色了。

Google Rain Barrels. That is where I started too, based on my roof size, I
got 4 55 gallon barrel, but soon find out, it is not enough to water lawn (
not even enough for my plants).
I decide to invest in underground fiberglass tank, more like a gas station
set up now. Rain water, shower water, everything to into that tank after
they pass a sand filter. Only water from toilet and kitchen does not go into
it.

I decide to invest in underground fiberglass tank, more like a gas station
set up now. Rain water, shower water, everything to into that tank after
they pass a sand filter. Only water from toilet and kitchen does not go into
it.

tanks under ground and 1 small 500 gallon tank above the ground. A small

Check your water bill first, it should be listed seperatly.
Usually a second water meter is installed when sprinkler system is installed.
Water going to your house got charged for both water and sewer, water to
sprinker only got charged for water (some area sewer is more costly than
water)
I have also seen some city/county charge you a flat sewer fee based on your
average water usuage in winter month. That way save them a water meter, but
you are not charged for the water that is not going back
