好像有人以前问过，但是我想问问一个细节的。
我这个专业很多是公立机构的contract position，是那种限定时限（1年合同，1年半
合同这类，不是永久长期的）。这样的职位我如果中了，我只能先上班，再请
maternity leave.这样他们可能又要请人cover 我的时间。会不会太伤人品？

sorry I can not type Chinese in this machine.
my questions is
If my monthly payment is $1800 and for this month, I send in $2000, what
will happen to the extra $200? Will it pay some of the remaining principal
or will only portion of it do it?

nothing will happen unless you specify that the extra $200 is paid to reduce
the principal.

先看好contractor有没有福利和假期

In most mortgage payment coupon, you could specify in detail how extra will
be used.
If not, specify yourself.

the extra goes to reduce your "principal" bal. thus you pay less int
expense over time. if you do it consistently each month, you'll pay off
your mtg earlier than the 30 or 15-yr term of the loan. bottom line, you
save on mtg interest expense

大部分的mortgage payment的coupon上面都有选项，让你把多余的钱用来pay down你的
principle,你的principle减少了，自然interest也会减少的

Re这个，不说明的话不会主动减本金的。
我寄了两张支票，一张是这个月的金额，另一张写明了for principle，结果被扣了一
个月的金额算做下个月的，其余才拿去抵本金...
