为什么home equity loan的利率比home line of credit的低呢？# Living

我想从现在房子里面pull钱出来做downpayment在买个房子。
但是被告知，只能用home equity line of credit做，不能用home equity loan.
可是home equity loan的利率能到1.99%，而line of credit要4%以上。
为啥差别这么大呢？

简单说：
loan是贷款，每月都要交月供直到你付清。付清之后如果再借需要重新申请一遍。
line类似信用卡，有借款才付利息，没借款就没利息，可以随时根据情况借或者还。

line of credit offers more flexibility, at a cost though. I love HELOC.
