so bought a house and started construction in NYC. this neighbor files a
complain to the city saying that house build too big and shadows his
building...wtf everything is within the city guideline that is how we got
the permit, now he files complains on illegal zoning...can any sane people
tell me why would anyone do this?

no I just need a place to vent, I don't understand why would anyone do this?
If I have a neighbor who tears down his old property put a new house up, I
will be very happy because the market value of the area could have just gone
up...those little snitches..I farking hate them.

不管你邻居是老中还是老外，他们想抱怨都是他们自己的权力。现有规定说你新房子不
能挡他们太阳么？你有没有越线？超高？
如果政府在现有的规定下认为你的房子修建没有过错，他们抱怨就是个P还麻烦. 还有
老外抱怨的更多。还有你邻居不是律师这要庆幸，不然就是lawsuit了。

to be honest, I don't think you asked for help; you just wanted to complain.
agree that some replies do sound mean, but, what kind of replies did you
expect? sympathy? if you were serious about having people's opinions, you
should give the full story.

It is the full story, I just couldn't believe someone would use that as an
excuse to complain, shadows his house? I am just waiting for the Inspector
to come and clear those complaints. It just ticks my mind that there are
people like this. They never confronted me for anything but they just keep
filing baseless complaints.

everybody is entitled to protect his/her own interests. as long as you fight
back before it is too late and keep your bottom lines, you are fine.
do not over react, emotional reactions can cause damages. there are good
neighbors and bad neighbors, you just happened to have a bad one, it is sad,
but do not make it worse, solve the problem on the table.

刚买的把旧的拆了重新装修，我气的就是他们什么都没说就发一大堆complaints,我还
要在家里等inspector.

从来没处过，自己查才发现了complaints.

邻居嘛，抬头不见低头见，平时沟通一下没坏处，这儿的人挺热心的，就是爱开玩笑，
一般没恶意
