contractor First take lots of pictures of the damages. Then you should call your insurance company, get a water damage mitigation firm to strip off the wet walls, dry out the wood, replace wet insulation and treat your house for mold. Ask them to assess the damage, find out where the water is coming from, and determine if it is a new problem or old problem. If it's old problem and it couldn't have been missed, then you can threaten to sue the previous owner and the seller agent for deliberately hiding material facts. If it's new problem, find out who or what is responsible. The insurance will likely covers the removal of wall, wood and anything else damaged by the water, mold treatment, and the cost of restoring to original look. But they wouldn't cover any damage caused by lack of maintenance from previous owner, or any new damages that are not caused by an accident or force of nature.
Don't worry too much, the leaking will be fixed, as well as many other things. It is just the beginning. Welcome to the house owner club.
