Because it's harder to waive the monthly fee now, I closed my Citi checking
account. However, a recurring transfer (from an external bank account to my
Citi account) earlier scheduled on Citi's website (not the other bank's
website) still happened two weeks after closing the account. Even worse, I
could no longer cancel them online because the account is closed. I
contacted Citi several times and most Citi persons didn't know how to stop
future transfers and refund to my external bank account. It took me almost
one week to have this fixed.
So please cancel such transfers before closing your Citi account. That can
save you a lot of troubles until Citi fixes their software (obviously once
an account is closed, the associated transfers should be automatically
canceled).
