I applied citi aa card and have $150 statement credit offer.
1) I purchased miles from aa.com but was told that purchase not qualified
for statement credit, is that right?
2) some people say I can but gift card by using the citi aa card, I can not
find where to but? please give a link if you know. Also does gift card
purchase qualify for statement credit?

I just got my $150 credit from AA GC purchase today. So I am sharing:
1) lon in your AA.com
2) on the top right, search "Gift Card"
3) click on first link, that sends you to AA's gift card page
4) click "buy" and go from there
5) statement credit will show up 1-2 days after your next statement closing
date
note: you only need to buy $50 to get $150 credit if your card does not
have a "up to" term. otherwise you need to buy $150.
