I guess you can cancel, but no refund?
After you cancel it, the hotel can sell the room again. :P

唉，那就等明天看amex有没有refund，否则又要跟他们理论了。还好只cancel了一个房
间，总共订了4个。本来觉得在marriott上订最放心了，随时可以cancel，结果一个没
看清就成advance purchase rate了。

你可以给他们打电话，说明取消的理由，运气好能退酒店credit

说的很明确，no refund，而不是no cancel
所以，你当然可以cancel，只是没有退款。
