一般来说都不是

supermarket一般是safeway这样主营食品的超市，也同时卖一些日用百货，这种店很多
时候也叫做grocery
department store是Nordstrom，Macys,kohls之类的百货商场，主营（品牌）服装，
beauty用品，居家用品等
Target和walmart一般称为discount department store，基本上生活中用到的什么都卖
，但不卖品牌服装和品牌化妆品。

As far as I know, for BOA 123 & Barclay Rewards, Walmart is defined as
Grocery, which means you can get 2.2% or 2% CB. For Amex BCP/BCE, it's
categorized as Wholesale/General Merchandise/whatever, you get only 1%
instead of 6%/3%.

BTW, I'm only talking about the normal Walmart without vegetable/meat/etc,
in tri-state area. Things may change for some other Walmarts that have
groceries.

one of my chase hotel cards count my local superwalmart as grocery store.
chase IHG or chase marriott (don't remember which one exactly), or maybe
both, since they are all chase cards
