我的IHG信用卡2016年issue一张free night certificate,2017年6月9日过期，2017年
3月份用该certificate订了一间2017年6月19日的房间，2017年6月15日系统issue了一
张2017年anniversary certificate.刚才登陆账号一看，2016 及2017年issue的
certificate均不见了。打电话问，被告知2017年6月15日issue的certificate was
applied to 2017年6月19日的stay了，因为2016年的certificate在2017年6月9日过期
了。
然后我耐心告诉他们我是2017年3月份定的宾馆，那时候2017年的certificate还没有
issue,那时候只有2016年的certificate，如果不能apply到2017年6月19日的宾馆，那
时为何能订宾馆？后来他们和supervisor商量，说是系统出错，给我补点让我订free
night any category.
如果不是非常细心，谁能注意到这些“系统错误”呀？所以发帖提醒大家一下。

尼玛，这系统设计的太完美了，自动吃掉最新的，然后让旧的过期

他们的系统bug多多。我昨晚的定了一个free night，然后想再付钱定多一晚，但系统
死活显示还是用free night定！实际我只有一张free night。后来看说明，也理解了。
定的时候只是预订，住的时候才实际用掉。

所以有free night的时候一定要用free night订，不能花钱订？

IHG的系统挺糟糕，前几天刚把上个quarter的accelerate要回来。他们的客服比较靠谱
，email来回几下也就搞定了，最后还是他们手动调整的。。。

You should not have used the old certificate to book a room with a check-out
date later than the expiration date of the said certificate. Normally this
should not be a problem so long as you check in as planned and do not modify
the reservation AFTER the expiration date of the certificate. Now that you
have a new certificate in your account then things become complicated
causing the hassle you consequently encountered.
But the good news is that it seems IHG was willing to correct the issue for
you, although I think their revised policy (revised maybe 2-3 years ago)
does not provide that they have this obligation.

Their system is indeed lousy. A few years ago IHG revised their policy
forbidding the use of a free night certificate on a night with a check-out
date later than the expiry date of the said certificate. The glitch happens
when there is a newer certificate waiting in the account AND when the
original reservation is modified after the expiry date of the old
certificate. I am in fact pleasantly surprised that IHG agreed to re-instate
a certificate for LZ because I suppose they do not have to, according to
their policy.

Thanks for the information. It is very helpful, although I am not sure
whether they are really implementing the policy of forbidding to use free
night certificate for reservation with the check-out date later than the
expiry date. According to the information provided to me during my last call
, it is valid as long as the reservation is made before the certificate
expiry date, even the checkout-out date is later. My reservation was not
modified after the original reservation in March 2017, which was earlier
than the expiry date. If the certificate could be used for reservation with
a check-out date later than its expiry date, the reservation should not go
through at the time of booking. Since it went through, I don't see the
reason that they are not obligated to the glitch of the system.
