in the 1980s, 换汇黑市出现 at corners near the friendship stores (You-Yi-
Shang-Dian), because it was easy to tell the Chinese-American foreign
visitors by the wear/clothing. There were guards at the store to block local
citizens from entering, so whoever could enter/exit the store would be
potential customers for 换汇黑市.
