今天收到一封信，让我联系他们，因为我的信用信息可能被别人盗用，自己成为
identity theft 的受害者。
下面是原文的一段，
... concerning a possible fraudulent Capital One account that has recently
been opened using some or all of your personal information. You may be a
victim of identity theft in which your personal information (such as your
Social Security number) could have been used by someone else to obtain
credit.
信中让我打电话联系他们，自己是第一次碰到这种情形，我应该怎么办？如果别人盗用
我的信息申请信用卡，我是否应该承担责任？谢谢各位的指教。

就是如果买省电省水的washer/dryer给的200刀rebate。
我12月寄出的rebate form，到现在都快8个星期了，没消息。
去网站查status，永远是"your case is being processed"。而且没电话号码可打。
郁闷！

要当心，提高警惕。
首先要看看信是从哪里寄来的，地址及联系电话。
Google一下那个地址和电话，看看有没有相关fraud记录。
你自己是否使用了任何形式的Identity保护的服务？
如果你没有，那没道理会有人警告你说你的ID被盗。
如果你的ID被盗，没道理是银行给你发信，我觉得他们根本查不到。
就算是警告，也应该是信用局给你的警告。
三大主要信用局，自己到网上看看联系方式。
