From a friend of mine:
"I just have some thoughts about 90's and now.
In one of the interview, from who, I can’t remember said if Kurt Cobain is
still alive, the music might not be so shallow and sweet. Maybe. But I guess
if the world becomes so ignorant, one person, no matter how powerful, strong
and touching he is, can’t reverse the torrent that runs against him. And he
is not strong… Sometimes I think what his anger represent is the inconsolable
anguish and frustration against this blandish,

I still want to compare music to Chinese poem.
I believed Li Bai, Du Fu or Su Dongpo, they feel really sad
about the world, but as Chinese culture, they
write a poem, they release the sadness and pressure
in this way. and most important, when you read
their poem, you will not feel sad all the time, sometimes
you feel happy, sometimes exciting. we seldome heard
any Chinese poets suicide, right?
but for western cultrue, they just want to die for their
believes, hehe.
I like Chinese culture, man,

well. not most of the rock music.
Rock music has a history and tradition to be outlet of the uttermost
sincereity and sensitivy of human being and society.
And isnt' that why you guys like CuiJian?
Because he is bold. He is the first rock musician in China. He is true and he
is sincere. Is he still like this?

顾城，海子，都自杀啦。
当然，那是西方人教坏的。:-)
中国古典诗人都有佛老气质，要他们自杀是不可能的。西方诗人有希腊气质，自杀是家常
便饭。
不过我的感觉是和你相反的，就是鲁迅说过的，觉得中国文化让人沉静，西方文化催人奋
起。所以他们发明了摇滚，我们发明了礼乐。
嗯，再说下去就要鄙视你了。你不是总在号称摇滚么？
不说了，赶快逃，不然又要被你逼债了。

yea, i kind of think that people who play music everyday perhaphs is more
mentally healthy than others. for those who rock everyday, i don't know. but
CJ once said every time after his performance, he feels 去火了.
looks like i have to find some band to jam together. :-) i feel very uneasy
recently. or at least have more sports. :-)

But it is always that when a society is open and libera, there are better rock
music. I think rock music represent the younger and uttermost mentality of
the society. It represent something new and self-consciosness.

The good rock is like that. Isn't it good musics are all like that? For me,
rock is freedom.
